Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT)
Working as an aid worker for a relief organization, a correspondent covering armed conflict or a security contractor safeguarding the reconstruction process in a war-torn country – the wide range of personal risks, to which you expose yourself during work in a Hostile Environment may vary from a flat tire in the desert to being kidnapped for ransom by a group of insurgents.
It may frequently be important to the aims of your organization of being perceived as impartial and neutral by conflicting parties and the local population alike. Close connections with military structures are therefore often considered counterproductive – which in turn may negatively reflect on your personal safety.
To compensate for this deficit, we have worked out a brand-new training concept for those of you working in areas of conflict without being able to rely on permanent protection by the authorities.
